    ALEX BARRELLA TOTALLY OFFICIALLY RUNNING FOR MAYOR; ATLANTA

ATLANTA --- Local cartoonist / janitor / activist Alex Barrella types in third person; wishes the city-at-large to know that on December 5th 2017 it was officially declared that he would be seeking  election again on November 2nd 2021. Being that Barrella doesn’t have ‘mad bank’ backing his longshot bid  for this office; this important fact has been extremely narrowly reported on as of yet by a corporate news  media content with omitting the less powerful from their...er...’journalistic’ output.

    Since immigrating to Atlanta a decade ago to draw cartoon squids for [adult swim]; candidate Barrella has  noted the steadfast abject inequality / mistreatment of this city’s citizens & their basic human rights. Being  that Barrella doesn’t possess any substantial standing monetarily; he has been forced to relocate his living situation a few times in that timespan; because rent prices steadily climb each year; pushing we impoverished out of Atlanta. Barrella, being ‘othered’ in most aspects of his life; strongly identifies with those made mute  victims of systemic / establishment abuses.

    he; a long-time participator in political action(voted Kerry ‘04, Obama ‘08, Stein ’12, Stein ‘16 &  Hawkins ‘20) has intimately grown to understand the broken state of our electoral apparatus which heavily empowers the wealthy / establishment backed while diminishing the opportunities for grassroot candidacies  to be recognized. In 2016 after seeing the Democrat party blatantly rig the primary election against coolgood  candidate Bernard Sanders; Barrella vowed to get off the sidelines & fight for the civil rights of those explicitly left out of our “representative” government.  

    Barrella, who already has a substantial political platform radically unlike our average capital backed  milquetoast contender; believes strongly that not only is he the right person for the position of Mayor of  Atlanta, but also that his platform is the strongest of any candidate in the ring to face the challenges our  society has faced for decades as well as the unique troubles arising from these current unprecedented times  of trifling strife.  

His platform includes:

⨳A focus on speaking truth to power regarding how inaccessible representation is to our citizens. 

⨳Implementation of a universal basic income program; which includes additional funding for direct reparative  payment to descendants of slaves as well as to those still suffering the horrors of current widespread racism. 

⨳Put forth the strongest declarations of protection to bolster our woefully inadequate housing / renters rights. 

⨳To change city hall / official city positions to be inclusionary rather than exclusionary to open up our political  processes & finally allow direct action for all citizens, not just monied ones.  

⨳To make substantial changes to our construction practices/protocol to allow for the rapid repair / build out of  our future streets & sidewalks sowhatto tackle the swaths of city where our byways are crumbling.

⨳To create a “buttload” of public housing / bolster inadequate status quos of shelter inequity.

⨳Transform / expand our private transportation entity ‘MARTA’ into a publicly owned one with no fares.

⨳To make public our utilities, our cultural centers(galleries, museums & theaters), our healthcare facilities so  the public can have equitable control over these important resources as well.  

⨳Reestablish our public safety efforts away from ‘Atlanta Police’ to something new; creating a non-lethal /  non-hostile department in contrast to our current one soto fundamentally shift our priorities regarding what we  consider justice.  

    Barrella, political outsider / something different feels not only up to the challenge of running for this position; but earnestly believes he would excel in it & substantially be able to #UnfuxSociety by radically  shifting our collective views / priorities away from ‘capital gains’ towards ‘equitable humane distribution of  power’. Barrella; vulnerable heself, will fight for the currently exploited underclass of this city tooth & toenail.
